Everything is as it should be! My journey of self-discovery and the transformation began with this quote; “Beloved I wish above all things that thou would be in health and prosper even as thy soul prosper.”

The struggle with my weight started in my teen years and continued into adulthood. It was this quote that changed my life. One Tuesday morning as I sat down to meditate. “Beloved I wish above all things that thou would prosper and be in health even as thy soul prosper.”

The journey inward called me to live my life with purpose towards awareness, acceptance, love, and truth, growth and maturing in validating myself.

I believe we all have beauty grace and greatness within ourselves that we don’t recognize and aren’t aware of.

The journey of self-discovery and transformation is a journey inward, not an external journey of finding love outside with another, it is about finding the highest value, of true self, within yourself. Recognizing that I am who I have always been longing for.

Reveling who you really are and, for the first time in your life, loving and accepting yourself. Then, and only then, you can love others. Finally having a sense of belonging and home within yourself.

Like the duck I was teased and ridiculed for being different experience ridicule, shame, and feelings of being unlovable. Yet through suffering and sorrow, he managed to grow his resilience and own his identity.

It would take me years to get to that place of you know that discovery and self-acceptance and it led to a lot of different things in my life lots of different challenges and ups and downs and roller coaster rides. Oh, by the way I hate roller coaster ride as they make me feel out of control.

In my search to discover what my soul is I discovered myself my way of thinking my way of feeling my way of speaking my way of being how I live my life.

I recognize that without the challenge there is no growth therefore, being kicked out of our comfort zone is a time-tested tool used to help and aids us in emotional mastery and our becoming.

Being separated and set apart, made extremely uncomfortable, because you need to get going, you need to move, helps us in the finding of our truth.

I felt like an eaglet refusing to fly, having all the comforts of the nest being pulled out from under me; left only on the bear sticks, still refusing to fly and getting thrown from the nest without support, so that I could realize that I’m a flyer. I have wings I was made to fly!

As Lisa and I my Brand Marketing coach worked through the process of branding. She asked me this question. Are you familiar with totem animals? I said yes, I’m familiar with them.

Immediately the story of the story of the “The Ugly Duckling” came to mind. I started an internal dialogue with myself should I really say that? I don’t think I should say that. That was our breakthrough lightbulb moment somehow, we both knew that this is it. As I shared how I experience the story of The Ugly Duckling.

Surrendering and being vulnerable is never easy, having the courage to be open and allowing is what we all need to do in our journey of becoming.

It is in the middle of the journey that place between where you are now and where you want to be;  that shapes us in becoming the person who is able to achieve and live the dream.

The goal is the goal it is not the destination, it is only a goal. Who you become is more important than the goal or destination! The person you become is the key to achieving your goals, dreams and live a life of meaning and purposeful.

There is an advantage that when you get focused and intentional: you attract helpers and gifts wherever you go. Just like in the story of The Ugly Duckling– it seems that the whole universe conspires to make it happen for so many on their journey. Because of their special characteristics, living in a state of grace that connects them effortlessly with everyone and everything at the right moment.

The duckling was in search of himself, and his purpose, and therefore was hopeful. The process of self-discovery is one in which a person is guided, through self-questioning and examination of one's own thoughts, words, and actions, in order to reach his or her own conclusions regarding who they truly are.

Maybe you relate to these scenarios. Perhaps you don’t like your job or fit in at the workplace. Maybe you are afraid to leave a comfort zone, or are staying in a toxic relationship, wrapped up in an illusion of love.

You may lack a sense of reward or satisfaction from your mindless daily routine. These moments of discomfort; which lead to fear, anger, and/or resentment; are moments of truth that pushes, and compels you to discover who you really are and what you want in your life.

That’s the story of me having looked into the internal mirror of myself my soul and seeing who I am.  The good the bad the ugly and accepting myself.

Discovering a path of freedom that cut through false beliefs, negative thoughts and secret fears, stepping into the light of who I am allowed the beauty that within me to shine forth the wisdom that’s within me to come forth so that I’m able and available to help others.

First, I had to become aware.

Second, I had to be accepting.

Third I had to learn my story.

Fourth I had to learn to practice self-compassion.

I had to be willing to let go of what I previously thought about myself based on the opinions of others and step into the light and the truth of who I am.

It was time to leave the past behind for the duck. Looking at his reflection in the water beneath him and seeing a different image reflected at him, he realized that he did not look like a duck. That he looked just like the beautiful birds that he had admired. Accepting and embracing this truth that he now is and always will be a swan.

My journey into becoming was to realize that all that I longed for thirst and hungered for was always within me. As I investigated the mirror of myself, I was able to see my true reflection and accept myself.

It’s so important that we realize that greatness is within all of us and that when we choose to look within, we can awaken to this truth that a diamond in the rough is still a diamond. When we have the willingness to become to step into who we truly are making the decision to live our lives in freedom, in love allowing ourselves to radiate light. We step into the light of our greatness.

Taking control of our lives we can create the life we love!
